Keeping our respect and acknowledgement for the Aboriginal cultures within M’akola is not only what sets up apart from other housing providers, it enhances our relationships with the 5,000 family members we house and can be attributed to our ongoing success and growth.
This September we hosted staff gatherings on Vancouver Island and in Prince Rupert for our Northwest BC Staff. At each gathering we engaged local First Nations communities to host and serve a traditional meal with Indigenous foods and add more key pieces of cultural information including storytelling, a film and Traditional Dances.
We are an Aboriginal affordable housing provider here in BC and we work hard to keep the Aboriginal element of our work in the forefront for our staff, tenants and applicants.
At M’akola we are proud of our roots and the culture and history of all of our Aboriginal tenants as well as all of the First Nations in BC whose Traditional Territory we operate on.
