Across Greater Victoria about 200 volunteers spent 12 hours on February 10 taking part in a Point-in-Time Count for people in the region experiencing homelessness.
M’akola Development Services was one of the 25 agencies involved in the event.
“MDS brought an Aboriginal perspective to the deliverance and decision making of the project,” said Marika Alberts, project manager.
The PIT Count in Greater Victoria is part of the counts occurring across the country. Coast to Coast communities are participating in these counts to help show the need for affordable housing and other services.
“This gives us an idea of the people experiencing homelessness and provides us with vital experience with homelessness in the Capital Region,” Alberts said. “The information collected will help in policy making and program development. “
