M’akola Housing Society received the Royal Roads University Chancellor’s Community Recognition Award and was recognized for its work over the past 35 years providing safe, affordable housing to Indigenous people across BC. On November 7, 2019, M’akola was recognized at the Fall Convocation held at the Royal Theatre alongside the Graduating Class and their guests. The society also received a commemorative plaque and a framed picture.
This acknowledgement was appreciated by the Board of Directors and all of the staff whose contributions have shaped the organization and changed many lives in the process.
