In Events, M'akola Team, Making a Difference, What's New

Our teams gathered to celebrate the construction of our latest project in Courtenay, BC on May 18 with BC Housing and all of our project partners. The 810 Braidwood Project is bringing  35 new homes to Courtenay, for singles and couples at-risk of homelessness. The project will include a mix of studios and one-bedroom homes.

K’ómoks Elder, Donna Mitchell opened the event and welcomed everyone to the Traditional Territory of the K’ómoks. Speakers at the event included MLA Ronna-Rae Leonard, Mayor Larry Jangula, Roger Kishi from Wachiay Friendship Centre and Kevin Albers, M’akola CEO.

The project is in partnership with M’akola Housing Society, M’akola Development Services, Wachiay Friendship Centre, BC Housing, and the City of Courtenay.

Additional contributors to the project include Comox Valley Regional District, Canadian Mortgage and Housing Corporation and Comox Valley Community Foundation.

Construction began in April 2018 and is slated for completion December 2018.
